Nationwide contractor mortgage criteria

Nationwide no longer limits contractors based on industry or daily income, choosing instead to prioritise flexibility by permitting up to 12 weeks off contracting annually and relaxing contract run-out terms. Their criteria is straightforward: contractors are required to have a minimum of 12 months' experience in a similar industry, while documentation is kept to a minimum, focusing on ID, recent contracts and personal bank statements.

As part of the mortgage application process, contractors would normally be required to provide the following:

  • ID and proof of address
  • Evidence of income
  • Evidence of current contract
  • Proof of deposit
